UPSC & MPPSC Coaching in Bhopal
The number of people who attempt to join the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) every year is a lot more than the number of places available. IAS interview coaching has become imperative that you prepare well for it. First, let us take a look at the syllabus of the exam, go through sample papers, and then discuss how you can get ready for this most prestigious exam.
IAS Interview Syllabus: The Civil Services Examination for the IAS is conducted through the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). You can check the syllabus on their official website. It provides a basic idea of what topics may come in the exam. Most of your IAS interview preparation should be based on these topics, but keep in mind that this is not an exhaustive list and that you cannot expect all questions to fall within this scope solely. Follow the syllabus, but do not limit your preparation to it. There are a few things (discussed later) which you should master regardless of whether they fall under the IAS interview syllabus or not. 1. General Studies (Compulsory): Aptitude Questions and Elementary Mathematics, Mental Ability & Logical Reasoning, Understanding India, Indian Polity, History of India; World History, Culture of India: Art Forms & Literature; Basic Science: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; Current Affairs including International Relations (fore-mentioned topics will be equally weighted); Optional Subjects: Any two subjects from Social Science - Economics/Political Science/Sociology, etc.; Law [both IPC and Constitutional law], Environmental Sciences, etc.; or any of the following language subjects: Sanskrit/Urdu or any local language. 2. Optional Subjects (Compulsory): Any two of the subjects mentioned in the General Studies list above should be selected, and one must have knowledge of Computer Applications. This is a basic subject that will come in handy, especially in government jobs such as this which deal with large databases requiring processing through computers. If you are not sure about what computer applications are required for these jobs, ask someone who is already working in the field; they will be able to share details with you explaining why you need to learn particular computer applications. The optional subjects cover almost everything else under the sun! 3. Aptitude Questions: In your bank exams, if you've been told to solve a particular topic in an aptitude test, you've probably put it down to 'luck' that you came across the only thing you knew. In this exam too, it is possible for you to do well just by being prepared on some topics and not others. If issues are covered which are not part of your IAS interview preparation plan, don't try solving them. Make note of them and learn about them later. Group together similar questions; once again, if mathematics comes in one question group, stay away from other math questions even if they look easier! Keep in mind those aspirants who know more topics will have an edge over those who know fewer topics (in most cases). Summary: To summarize, you should spend your preparation time on learning the 4-5 topic areas that give you trouble. If there is something that comes up during practice exams that's not part of your preparation plan, make a note of it and learn about it later.
